Ian has worked for over fifteen years as a strategy and organisation consultant specialising in the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries. Ian works with PSfPS to define and deliver capability development and behavioural change in consulting and service businesses. He brings to PSfPS’s clients the benefit of his experience as a consultant working for major global client organisations addressing complex business issues. As a consulting professional he has occupied the roles of project manager, project leader, business developer and practice leader.

Ian started his career as a graduate with ICI. He then worked as the commercial manager of a university before embarking on his consulting career, joining PA Consulting Group in 1997. He joined PA’s Life Sciences practice and reached the level of Principal Consultant. He became one of the accredited deliverers of PA’s in-house consulting skills development programme.

In 2003 Ian joined Cambridge Pharma Consultancy, now part of IMS Consulting, where he worked as a Principal for three years. In that time Ian led international product strategy projects for brand teams within major pharmaceutical companies. Ian became Location Manager for the firm’s UK team of consultants, responsible for the organisation, recruitment and training of a team of 30 consultants. Ian acted as sponsor and co-developer for a number of training initiatives across IMS Consulting. Ian then moved to Arthur D Little, where he was head of the firm’s UK healthcare practice. He also developed a skills training programme for all of the firm’s UK-based practices. Ian holds a degree in Engineering and Management from the University of Durham, where he was a prize-winner on the undergraduate management programme. He has spoken at conferences on strategic alliances, research and development strategy and drug pricing.

Away from work, Ian is involved in amateur classical music (as a cellist and very occasionally as a conductor) and enjoys sailing and astronomy. He is married with three children and lives in Cambridgeshire.
