Essential skills for today’s professional

This dynamic, experiential programme has been created to develop the professional skills necessary to continually improve client perception and relationships; engagement and delivery; and overall team effectiveness. Participants will be exposed to a wide range of skills and techniques that they can employ to be more effective in their day-to-day work, to achieve better results over the longer term and make working life more enjoyable and less stressful.

The programme will also examine the implications of becoming a professional representative for a firm and apply best practice behaviours that exemplify professionalism and efficiency.

The focus will be on three key areas:

1. Communication & Presentations

  • Understanding your audience’s interests, goals and concerns
  • Structuring communications effectively
  • Presenting with confidence to build impact and credibility
  • Engaging the audience through storytelling and visual imagery

2. Time Management & Prioritisation

  • Task triage and planning: improved ability to recognise and appropriately plan and focus on high value tasks
  • Practical application of time management tools
  • Awareness of personal time management enemies and how to manage them

3. Negotiation

  • Developing a structured approach to the negotiation process
  • Understanding persuasion vs negotiation
  • Awareness of the core dimensions of negotiation including behaviour process, language and ploys

  • Approach and conduct a range of negotiations towards “win-win” outcomes

  • Participants will benefit from peer and tutor feedback and will develop a shared language to continue to provide feedback to one another after the programme
  • Participants are given individual coaching throughout the day and are encouraged to explore how they can apply the tools and techniques to address their own areas for development
